My eBay experience dates back to Oct 1999, when a news show said a man put his kidney up for auction on eBay. That event has since become a milestone in eBay's history. I happened to need a kidney transplant and the media coverage intrigued me. My sister gave me her kidney later that year and I encourage everyone to consider organ donation...but not through eBay. Although the bidding went through the roof, the auction was pulled because selling body parts on eBay is prohibited. That auction was what actually made me go on the eBay site.

Like a lot of others, I got my start on eBay as a buyer. After buying for months, I decided to give selling a try, and educated myself through eBay's online help (hundreds of pages). In the early days, there was no easy way to overcome the steep learning curve.

After my first few successful auctions, I became a fanatic and began buying books, subscribing to newsletters, reading and posting to forums, and attending eBay events. By becoming an Education Specialist, I combine two of my favorite things: teaching and eBay.
